TV, Sound & AV Setup

Most soundbar problems come down to the connection and the TV's audio settings. We check whether the TV has HDMI ARC or eARC, which port carries it, and whether the soundbar and TV both have HDMI-CEC enabled - each brand calls it something different. Where ARC is not available, optical is used, though it limits some surround formats and does not pass volume control back to the TV remote.

What the technician does

  1. Connect via HDMI ARC or optical
  2. Set up the TV's audio settings
  3. Get one remote controlling both

HDMI ARC or eARC usually lets one remote do it all.

About soundbar setup

Lip-sync issues usually come from audio processing delays in the TV, the soundbar or a set-top box, so we adjust the delay settings and output format. Subwoofers and rear speakers are paired and positioned, and night mode or dialogue enhancement is set to taste. We also check that Sky, Freeview or a games console sends audio through correctly, since each source can behave differently.

What usually causes it

  • Voices out of sync with picture
  • The TV remote not controlling the soundbar volume
  • No sound when switching to a different input
  • Wireless subwoofer or rear speakers not pairing
  • Dialogue hard to hear over music and effects

What a visit looks like

When you book soundbar setup, you tell us what's going on and we reply with a time that suits you and a price. Nothing starts until you're happy with both.

On the day, the technician arrives, looks at the problem in person and confirms the plan with you before starting. If something turns out different from what was expected - a part is needed, or the cause is somewhere else - we stop and agree the change with you first.

When the work is done we test it with you, show you what was changed, and leave the area tidy. For business jobs we note what we did, so there is a record for whoever looks after your IT next.

Pricing

Each soundbar setup job is priced before work starts. The price depends on what's involved - the size of the site, the equipment, and whether parts are needed - so the quickest way to a number is to tell us about the job on the booking form.

There is no contract and no monthly fee. You book the job you need and pay for that job.

Soundbar setup: questions

Why does my soundbar turn off when the TV is still on?

Often a CEC or auto-standby setting is the cause, or the soundbar is not detecting a signal over optical. We adjust the settings on both devices so they power on and off together.

Is Dolby Atmos worth setting up?

If your soundbar and TV support it and you watch films or sport from a source that delivers it, yes. It usually needs eARC and the right output setting, which we check and configure.

Do you do soundbar setup on site?

Yes. We come to businesses and homes across Auckland and Hamilton and do the work where the equipment is.

How much does soundbar setup cost?

It depends on what's involved. Tell us about the job on the form and we'll confirm the price before any work starts.
