Microsoft 365 setup and migration

Microsoft 365 tenants, mailboxes, SharePoint and security set up properly.

Microsoft 365 is easy to sign up for and easy to get wrong. A well-set-up tenant has your domain verified, mailboxes migrated, SharePoint sites for shared files, OneDrive syncing on every computer and multi-factor sign-in turned on in Entra ID. We set up new tenants, move email and files from old servers, Google Workspace or other hosts, and work onsite with staff on the changeover day.

  • Admin accounts secured and recorded for you
  • Mail flow tested in and out after any DNS change
  • Staff signed in on their computers onsite

Signs you need Microsoft 365 setup & migration

  • Email is still on an old hosting account or a server in the cupboard
  • Staff share one login or forward mail between accounts
  • Shared files live on a NAS or one person's computer
  • Multi-factor sign-in is not turned on
  • Mail you send lands in other people's junk folders

How we do it

We look at the tenant or the setup you are coming from before touching anything: your domain and who holds its DNS, current mailboxes and their sizes, shared folders and their permissions, and which licences you hold. That gives a migration plan with a clear cutover point. New tenants get the domain verified, admin accounts separated from everyday accounts and security defaults or conditional access set in Entra ID.

Mailboxes, calendars and contacts are copied across in advance, then MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC records are updated at cutover. Files move into SharePoint libraries or OneDrive with permissions set by team rather than by person. On the day we are onsite to sign staff in on Outlook, Teams and OneDrive, enrol multi-factor authentication with them and check mail flows both ways.

Microsoft 365 Setup & Migration for businesses

For a small business, Microsoft 365 is usually email, file storage, Teams and device security in one. Setting it up properly means files are not tied to one computer, staff can work from anywhere with the same sign-in, and a stolen password alone is not enough to get into an account. Correct DNS records also help your invoices and quotes reach customers instead of their junk folder.

Before we arrive

To make the visit quick, it helps to have these ready:

  • Login for your domain registrar or DNS host
  • Admin access to your current email or Microsoft 365 tenant
  • A list of staff, their roles and which shared folders they use
  • Any shared mailboxes such as accounts or info addresses

What a visit looks like

When you book Microsoft 365 setup & migration, you tell us what's going on and we reply with a time that suits you and a price. Nothing starts until you're happy with both.

On the day, the technician arrives, looks at the problem in person and confirms the plan with you before starting. If something turns out different from what was expected - a part is needed, or the cause is somewhere else - we stop and agree the change with you first.

When the work is done we test it with you, show you what was changed, and leave the area tidy. For business jobs we note what we did, so there is a record for whoever looks after your IT next.

Pricing

Each Microsoft 365 setup & migration job is priced before work starts. The price depends on what's involved - the size of the site, the equipment, and whether parts are needed - so the quickest way to a number is to tell us about the job on the booking form.

There is no contract and no monthly fee. You book the job you need and pay for that job.

Microsoft 365 Setup & Migration: common questions

Which Microsoft 365 plan do we need?

Most small businesses choose between Business Basic, Business Standard and Business Premium. Premium adds Intune device management and stronger security policies. We look at how you work before suggesting a plan for each user.

Will we lose email during the migration?

Mail is copied across before the switch, then the domain's MX record is changed so new mail arrives in Microsoft 365. A final sync picks up anything that arrived in the old mailbox during the changeover.

Can you move our shared drive to SharePoint?

Yes. We plan the site and library structure, set permissions to match who needs what, migrate the files and set up OneDrive sync so staff still see familiar folders in File Explorer.
