Email setup and support for offices and homes

Email set up, moved and fixed on your computers - Outlook, Apple Mail and webmail.

Laptop and Wi-Fi router in a living room at home

Email is still how most quotes, invoices and bookings arrive, so when it stops sending or a new staff member cannot see the shared inbox, work stalls. We set up and repair email on Windows and Mac computers in Outlook, Apple Mail and the browser, move mail to a new provider or a new computer without losing old messages, set up shared mailboxes and signatures, and track down the settings behind send and receive errors.

From $60 + GST ($69 incl. GST) for remote help, no call-out fee

  • Existing mail copied or exported before anything is changed
  • Every account tested by sending and receiving a message
  • A short note of the server settings and where the mail now lives

Signs you need email setup & support

  • Messages sit in the outbox or bounce back with an error nobody understands
  • A new staff member cannot see the shared accounts or bookings inbox
  • Everyone in the office has a different email signature, or none at all
  • The mailbox keeps warning that it is nearly full
  • Nobody remembers the password to the main business email account

How we do it

We begin by finding out where your email actually lives. That means checking who hosts the domain, which provider holds the mailboxes and how each computer is connected - Exchange, IMAP or an old POP setup that only keeps mail on one machine. A lot of send and receive problems come from a provider changing its settings, an expired password saved in Outlook or an outgoing server that the internet connection blocks. Knowing the full picture first stops us fixing one computer and breaking another.

Before any change, existing mail is exported or confirmed safe on the server. We then set up or repair each account, connect shared mailboxes with the right permissions, apply a matching signature and test sending and receiving, including to an outside address. If you are moving provider, mail is copied across before the domain records change and checked again afterwards. You are left with a short note of the server settings, where passwords are kept and who has access to which mailbox.

Specific email setup & support jobs

Email Setup & Support for businesses

For a small office, email problems rarely stay small. A shared bookings inbox that only one person can open, an outbox quietly holding invoices, or a former employee's mailbox still collecting customer replies all cost time and goodwill. Getting the accounts, shared mailboxes and permissions set up properly means new staff can be added quickly, people who leave can be removed cleanly, and customer emails land where someone will actually read them.

Email Setup & Support at home

At home the usual trouble is email that has worked for years and then suddenly will not send, or a new computer where the old messages are nowhere to be found. We sort out the settings, bring your folders and contacts across from the old machine, and make sure you can also reach your mail in a web browser if the computer is ever out of action. Everything is explained in plain language as we go.

Before we arrive

To make the visit quick, it helps to have these ready:

  • The name of your email provider and the login for the account that manages it
  • Email addresses and passwords for each person, or access to reset them
  • Who should be able to see each shared mailbox
  • Any signature wording, logo file or disclaimer you want used

What a visit looks like

When you book email setup & support, you tell us what's going on and we reply with a time that suits you and a price. Nothing starts until you're happy with both.

On the day, the technician arrives, looks at the problem in person and confirms the plan with you before starting. If something turns out different from what was expected - a part is needed, or the cause is somewhere else - we stop and agree the change with you first.

When the work is done we test it with you, show you what was changed, and leave the area tidy. For business jobs we note what we did, so there is a record for whoever looks after your IT next.

Email Setup & Support: common questions

Can you move our email to a new provider without losing old messages?

Yes. We copy the existing mailboxes, folders, contacts and calendars across before the domain is pointed at the new provider, then check each person can see their history. Mail that arrives during the switch is picked up from the old service afterwards.

Do you set up email on mobile devices?

No. We work on Windows and Mac computers only. Once the account is working on your computer, the sign-in details we leave with you are the same ones your provider gives for other devices.

Our mailbox says it is full. What can you do?

We find out what is filling it - usually large attachments, a deleted items folder that never empties or years of sent mail - then archive older mail to a file you keep, clear what is safe to remove and set up archiving so it does not fill again quickly.

We have lost the password to our email account. Can you help?

Usually. We work through the provider's recovery process with you, which may need access to a recovery address or the domain account. Once you are back in, we set a new password, record where it is kept and turn on multi-factor sign-in where the provider supports it.
