Terms and conditions
The terms that apply to every job we do.
These terms are short and written in plain English. They cover our rates, quotes, parts, cancellations, payment and what happens if something isn't right.
About these terms
These terms apply to every job Onsite Tech ("we", "us") does for you, whether you book online, by email or by phone. By booking a job you agree to them. If anything in a written quote we give you differs from these terms, the quote applies for that job.
Our rates
Onsite visits are charged at our published rates: a $30 call-out (incl. GST) per visit, $135 + GST for the first hour on site, then $60 + GST for each half hour or part of a half hour after that. Time starts when the technician arrives. Remote help sessions are $60 + GST. SuperGold card holders pay $116 + GST for the first hour of a home visit. Current rates are always shown on our pricing page.
We never charge by the minute or in 15-minute steps. If a job is going to take longer than we told you, we stop and agree it with you before carrying on.
Quotes
Larger jobs are quoted in writing before work starts. A quote covers the work it describes; anything extra you ask for on the day is agreed with you first. Quotes are valid for 30 days unless they say otherwise, and equipment prices in a quote can change if a supplier changes its price before you accept.
Parts and equipment
Parts and equipment are quoted and agreed before we order them. They remain ours until paid for in full. Manufacturer warranties on equipment we supply are passed on to you, and we help you make a claim if something fails.
Bookings, access and safety
Please make sure someone is on site to let us in, that we can reach the equipment safely, and that you have any passwords or admin details we need. If the site isn't safe or accessible - for example a ceiling space we can't safely enter - we may stop the job and agree another plan with you. We do not do electrical (230 V) work; that is done by a registered electrician.
Cancellations and no-shows
You can cancel or move a visit free of charge until 4pm on the working day before it. After that, a late cancellation fee of $39 + GST ($44.85 incl. GST) applies. If nobody is on site when we arrive at the booked time, a fee of $99 + GST ($113.85 incl. GST) applies.
Payment
Home customers pay when the job is finished, by card or bank transfer. Business customers are invoiced and pay within 20 days of the invoice date unless agreed otherwise. Overdue amounts may incur reasonable collection costs.
Your data
We take care with your files and settings, but you are responsible for keeping a current backup before any work starts. Where a drive is failing, we copy data off first wherever possible. We can't be responsible for data lost through hardware failure, malware or a backup that didn't exist. Passwords you give us are used only for the job and you should change them once it's finished.
If something isn't right
If you're not happy with the work, tell us as soon as possible and we'll come back to put it right. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986. If you are in trade and the work is for your business, you agree that the Consumer Guarantees Act does not apply, to the extent the law allows.
Our liability
To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any job is limited to the amount you paid for that job, and we are not liable for indirect losses such as lost profits or downtime.

Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page when you book is the one that applies to your job.
