Cabling & networks
Data cabling for new builds, fit-outs and renovations
Data cabling planned and pre-wired before walls and ceilings close.
The cheapest moment to cable a building is while the framing is open. We work alongside your builder and electrician to plan network points, ceiling access points, camera positions and the comms cabinet, then pre-wire Cat6 or Cat6A at the right stage of the build. After the linings go on we come back to terminate, test and label every run.
- Outlet plan agreed with you before any cable is pulled
- Two visits matched to the build stage: pre-wire and fit-off
- Test results and a labelled cable schedule at handover
Signs you need new build & fit-out cabling
- You are building or renovating and the framing will soon be lined
- The electrical plan shows power outlets but no data points
- Your fit-out drawings do not show where the comms cabinet goes
- You want ceiling Wi-Fi access points or cameras without visible cables
- You are leaving a tenancy and old cabling needs removing
How we do it
We get involved before the pre-wire. Working from the plans, we mark each data outlet, ceiling access point, camera, TV position and the location of the comms cabinet, then agree routes with the builder and electrician so data cable stays clear of power where it should. On a commercial fit-out we also check ceiling grid, fire-stopping requirements and where cable can cross tenancy walls.
At the pre-wire stage we run Cat6 or Cat6A from each position back to the cabinet location, leave tidy service loops and tag both ends. Once the linings, paint and ceiling tiles are done we return to fit off: terminate outlets and the patch panel, test every run, and check nothing was damaged by the other trades. You receive a labelled cable schedule matched to the floor plan.

- Office fit-out cablingA new or refurbished office needs data cabling before the walls close.
- New build data cablingA new home or commercial build needs data cabling planned in.

- Cabling for ceiling Wi-Fi access pointsWe want neat ceiling access points instead of a router on a shelf, but there is no cable in the ceiling.
New Build & Fit-out Cabling for businesses
For an office or shop fit-out, cabling is one of the trades that has to happen at a set point in the programme. Planning outlet positions, the comms cabinet and access point locations early stops desks landing where there is no data and avoids surface ducting after the space is finished. A tested, labelled installation also makes move-in day much simpler for the IT setup that follows.
New Build & Fit-out Cabling at home
In a new home or major renovation, a Cat6 point to each bedroom, the lounge TV, the home office and a couple of ceiling positions for Wi-Fi access points is easy while the walls are open and very hard later. All runs come back to one small cabinet where the fibre arrives.
Before we arrive
To make the visit quick, it helps to have these ready:
- Floor plans and the electrical plan, if one exists
- Builder's programme or the expected pre-line inspection date
- Contact details for the builder, electrician and project manager
- A list of rooms where screens, desks, cameras or access points will go
What a visit looks like
When you book new build & fit-out cabling, you tell us what's going on and we reply with a time that suits you and a price. Nothing starts until you're happy with both.
On the day, the technician arrives, looks at the problem in person and confirms the plan with you before starting. If something turns out different from what was expected - a part is needed, or the cause is somewhere else - we stop and agree the change with you first.
When the work is done we test it with you, show you what was changed, and leave the area tidy. For business jobs we note what we did, so there is a record for whoever looks after your IT next.
Pricing
Each new build & fit-out cabling job is priced before work starts. The price depends on what's involved - the size of the site, the equipment, and whether parts are needed - so the quickest way to a number is to tell us about the job on the booking form.
There is no contract and no monthly fee. You book the job you need and pay for that job.
New Build & Fit-out Cabling: common questions
When in the build should you be involved?
Ideally at the planning stage, so outlets appear on the electrical plan. The pre-wire happens once framing is up and before insulation and linings, usually around the same stage the electrician does their rough-in.
Do you work with the electrician on site?
Yes. We coordinate routes and timing with the electrician so data and power cables are kept apart where needed. We do low-voltage data only - power circuits and outlets are the electrician's job.
Cat6 or Cat6A for a new build?
Cat6 is fine for most homes and offices. Cat6A is worth it for Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7 access points, high-power PoE devices and runs where 10 Gb may be wanted later, because recabling after linings go on is far harder.
