How we repair computers

Every repair starts with a proper diagnosis. A slow computer might need an SSD, more memory, a software clean-up or a new battery - or it might be a failing drive about to take your files with it. We test the hardware and check the drive's health before recommending anything, so you only pay for the fix that will actually help.

When a part is needed we confirm the price with you before ordering it, then fit it and test the machine properly. We protect your files throughout: if a drive is failing we copy your data off first. If a computer is not worth repairing, we tell you straight, and help you move to a new one.

Before we arrive

  • The computer and its charger
  • Your Windows or Mac login password
  • A note of any error messages you have seen
  • A backup of anything important, if the computer still works

For businesses

For businesses we repair desktops and laptops at your premises, so staff are without their machine for as short a time as possible. Where a part has to be ordered, we can often get the person working on another machine in the meantime and move their files across.

What a visit looks like

When you book a HP repair, you tell us what's going on and we reply with a time that suits you and a price. Nothing starts until you're happy with both.

On the day, the technician arrives, looks at the problem in person and confirms the plan with you before starting. If something turns out different from what was expected - a part is needed, or the cause is somewhere else - we stop and agree the change with you first.

When the work is done we test it with you, show you what was changed, and leave the area tidy. For business jobs we note what we did, so there is a record for whoever looks after your IT next.

Pricing

Each HP repair job is priced before work starts. The price depends on what's involved - the size of the site, the equipment, and whether parts are needed - so the quickest way to a number is to tell us about the job on the booking form.

There is no contract and no monthly fee. You book the job you need and pay for that job.
