Move everything to a new Mac, on site
I've got a new Mac and want all my files, apps, mail and settings moved from the old one.
I've got a new Mac and want all my files, apps, mail and settings moved from the old one.
Migration Assistant does much of the heavy lifting when moving to a new Mac, but it goes far more smoothly when the old Mac has been checked first. We make a backup, confirm the old drive is healthy and check that older apps will run on the new Mac's processor and macOS version. Apps that need a new licence or download are noted before the move. Old licence keys are gathered.
What the technician does
- Back up the old Mac before starting
- Transfer files, apps and accounts with Migration Assistant
- Check mail, printers, backups and app sign-ins on the new Mac
Keep the old Mac untouched for a while until you are sure nothing was left behind.
About move everything to a new Mac
After the transfer we sign in to iCloud and mail, re-add printers and scanners, check that apps open and are licensed, and set up Time Machine or another backup on the new Mac. We go through anything that did not carry over and agree with you when the old Mac can be wiped or passed on. Your old Mac's storage is wiped before it goes anywhere else.

What a visit looks like
When you book move everything to a new Mac, you tell us what's going on and we reply with a time that suits you and a price. Nothing starts until you're happy with both.
On the day, the technician arrives, looks at the problem in person and confirms the plan with you before starting. If something turns out different from what was expected - a part is needed, or the cause is somewhere else - we stop and agree the change with you first.
When the work is done we test it with you, show you what was changed, and leave the area tidy. For business jobs we note what we did, so there is a record for whoever looks after your IT next.
