Wi-Fi & Network Setup
Mesh Wi-Fi installation, on site
Wi-Fi works near the router but not in the bedrooms or upstairs.
Wi-Fi works near the router but not in the bedrooms or upstairs.
Mesh systems such as TP-Link Deco, Eero, Netgear Orbi or Google Nest Wifi relay signal between units, so the position of the second and third unit decides everything. We measure signal and speed in each room, note what the walls are made of, and place satellites roughly halfway between the router and the weak areas, not inside them. Where a data cable runs between floors, we use it for wired backhaul.
What the technician does
- Test coverage room by room
- Place mesh points where they actually help
- Retest and connect all your devices
Mesh works best when the units can see each other - placement matters more than brand.
About mesh Wi-Fi installation
A common decision is whether to run the mesh alongside your provider's router or put that router into bridge mode so the mesh does all the routing. Two networks with clashing names make devices roam badly. We settle on one network name, update the mesh firmware, and connect smart TVs, printers and other gear, then measure again in the rooms that were the problem.
What usually causes it
- Two-storey house with the router at one end
- Brick, concrete or plaster walls between rooms
- Bedrooms or home office out of range
- Plug-in extenders creating separate networks
Before we arrive
- A floor plan or rough sketch of the building, if you have one
- Your internet provider's account details
- Router and switch admin logins if you know them
- A list of the rooms or areas where Wi-Fi is worst
What a visit looks like
When you book mesh Wi-Fi installation, you tell us what's going on and we reply with a time that suits you and a price. Nothing starts until you're happy with both.
On the day, the technician arrives, looks at the problem in person and confirms the plan with you before starting. If something turns out different from what was expected - a part is needed, or the cause is somewhere else - we stop and agree the change with you first.
When the work is done we test it with you, show you what was changed, and leave the area tidy. For business jobs we note what we did, so there is a record for whoever looks after your IT next.
Pricing
Each mesh Wi-Fi installation job is priced before work starts. The price depends on what's involved - the size of the site, the equipment, and whether parts are needed - so the quickest way to a number is to tell us about the job on the booking form.
There is no contract and no monthly fee. You book the job you need and pay for that job.
Mesh Wi-Fi installation: questions
How many mesh units do I need?
It depends on layout and building materials more than floor area alone. A typical single-level home might need two, a larger two-storey home three or more. We test the house before recommending a number.
Can I keep my internet provider's router?
Usually yes. It can stay as the router with the mesh in access point mode, or go into bridge mode while the mesh handles routing. We choose whichever avoids a double network in your setup.
Do you do mesh Wi-Fi installation on site?
Yes. We come to businesses and homes across Auckland and Hamilton and do the work where the equipment is.
How much does mesh Wi-Fi installation cost?
It depends on what's involved. Tell us about the job on the form and we'll confirm the price before any work starts.
