Camera memory card recovery, on site
The camera card shows no photos after a wedding or event and we need them back.
The camera card shows no photos after a wedding or event and we need them back.
Memory cards fail in different ways: an error message in the camera, a card that appears empty, or files that show as broken thumbnails. Because the camera may write to the card when it is switched on, the first step is to take it out and keep it out. We read the card with a separate reader and make a full image so the original is not worked on repeatedly. Card type and capacity are recorded too.
What the technician does
- Stop using the card and keep it out of the camera
- Image the card and scan for photo and video files
- Copy recovered files to a new drive for you to check
Swap to a fresh card as soon as one starts showing errors - don't keep shooting on it.
About camera memory card recovery
Recovery software is then run against the image to find photo and video files, including camera raw formats. File names often come back as numbers rather than originals, so we sort results by date where the information survives. Cards with physical damage, such as a cracked casing or broken contacts, may need specialist lab work. Recovered files are copied to a new drive, and the card is returned to you rather than reused for the next shoot.
What usually causes it
- The card was removed while the camera was writing
- The card was formatted in a different device
- The card is old and has worn out
- The card was physically bent or damaged
Before we arrive
- The affected drive or computer, switched off
- A list of the most important files or folders
- A new drive to receive the recovered data, if you have one
- When the files were last seen and what happened since
What a visit looks like
When you book camera memory card recovery, you tell us what's going on and we reply with a time that suits you and a price. Nothing starts until you're happy with both.
On the day, the technician arrives, looks at the problem in person and confirms the plan with you before starting. If something turns out different from what was expected - a part is needed, or the cause is somewhere else - we stop and agree the change with you first.
When the work is done we test it with you, show you what was changed, and leave the area tidy. For business jobs we note what we did, so there is a record for whoever looks after your IT next.
Pricing
Each camera memory card recovery job is priced before work starts. The price depends on what's involved - the size of the site, the equipment, and whether parts are needed - so the quickest way to a number is to tell us about the job on the booking form.
There is no contract and no monthly fee. You book the job you need and pay for that job.
Camera memory card recovery: questions
Will the photos come back with their original names?
Not always. Recovered photos often have numbered names, but the date and camera details inside each file usually survive and help sort them. We tell you how many files came back.
Can video files be recovered too?
Often, but video is harder because large files are more likely to be partly overwritten or fragmented. We tell you which files play back fully. Partial files are flagged clearly.
Do you do camera memory card recovery on site?
Yes. We come to businesses and homes across Auckland and Hamilton and do the work where the equipment is.
How much does camera memory card recovery cost?
It depends on what's involved. Tell us about the job on the form and we'll confirm the price before any work starts.
