Warehouse & Industrial Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi for forklift-mounted terminals, on site

The terminals on our forklifts lose connection, especially near the dock doors.

The terminals on our forklifts lose connection, especially near the dock doors.

Vehicle-mounted terminals move faster than staff on foot and often travel between indoor aisles, dock doors and outside yards. Roller doors open and close, trucks back into bays and steel all around reflects signal. If the access point layout was designed for an office, the terminal spends much of its route on the edge of coverage. Terminals also vibrate constantly, which loosens antenna connectors over time.

What the technician does

  1. Check terminal antennas, mounting and Wi-Fi settings
  2. Survey coverage along forklift routes, dock and yard
  3. Add or reposition access points and tune roaming

Have one forklift terminal available for testing while the survey is done.

About Wi-Fi for forklift-mounted terminals

We check the terminal first: antenna condition, mounting position and its Wi-Fi settings. Then we survey the forklift routes, including the dock and yard, and adjust access point placement and roaming settings to suit. Where coverage must extend outdoors, we use weather-rated access points or directional antennas fed from PoE switches. Final testing is done by driving the actual routes with a terminal logged in, watching for drops and slow reconnections.

What usually causes it

  • Access points placed for the office, not the floor
  • Roller doors and trucks blocking signal at the dock
  • Damaged or poorly mounted terminal antennas
  • Yard areas with no outdoor coverage

What a visit looks like

When you book Wi-Fi for forklift-mounted terminals, you tell us what's going on and we reply with a time that suits you and a price. Nothing starts until you're happy with both.

On the day, the technician arrives, looks at the problem in person and confirms the plan with you before starting. If something turns out different from what was expected - a part is needed, or the cause is somewhere else - we stop and agree the change with you first.

When the work is done we test it with you, show you what was changed, and leave the area tidy. For business jobs we note what we did, so there is a record for whoever looks after your IT next.

Wi-Fi for forklift-mounted terminals: questions

Can you cover the outdoor yard?

Yes. Outdoor access points mounted on the building or poles can extend coverage to the yard. We check the area, mounting points and cable routes before suggesting positions. Mounting positions are agreed with you before any work at height.

Should the terminals use a separate SSID?

Often yes. A dedicated network for terminals and scanners lets us set the security and roaming options those devices need without affecting staff laptops. It also lets us keep those devices away from staff and guest traffic.

Do you do Wi-Fi for forklift-mounted terminals on site?

Yes. We come to businesses and homes across Auckland and Hamilton and do the work where the equipment is.

How much does Wi-Fi for forklift-mounted terminals cost?

It depends on what's involved. Tell us about the job on the form and we'll confirm the price before any work starts.
