CCTV repair, on site
Cameras offline, a blank recorder, or the app stopped working.
Cameras offline, a blank recorder, or the app stopped working.
CCTV faults usually fall into a handful of causes, and we work through them in order. A camera showing 'no video' might have a failed PoE port, water in a junction box, a corroded connector or simply a dead camera. A recorder that shows cameras live but plays back nothing usually has a failing hard drive or a recording schedule that has been switched off. We check each piece before replacing anything.
What the technician does
- Find the failed camera, cable or recorder
- Repair or replace the faulty part
- Restore phone viewing
Recorders often stop recording when their hard drive fails.
About CCTV repair
Phone viewing that stopped working often comes down to a router change, an expired cloud service, a new ISP or a firmware update on the recorder. We also check the recorder's date and time, because wrong clocks make footage useless as evidence. If a repair is not worth it on an old analogue system, we tell you honestly and outline what an upgrade would involve so you can decide.
What usually causes it
- Recorder hard drive worn out by constant recording
- Water getting into outdoor connectors
- Router or ISP change breaking remote viewing
- Lost admin password to the recorder
- Lightning or power surge damaging cameras
Before we arrive
- A list of the areas you want covered
- Your Wi-Fi details, so the recorder can reach the internet
- The phones that need the viewing app
- Access to the roof space or ceiling where cables will run
What a visit looks like
When you book CCTV repair, you tell us what's going on and we reply with a time that suits you and a price. Nothing starts until you're happy with both.
On the day, the technician arrives, looks at the problem in person and confirms the plan with you before starting. If something turns out different from what was expected - a part is needed, or the cause is somewhere else - we stop and agree the change with you first.
When the work is done we test it with you, show you what was changed, and leave the area tidy. For business jobs we note what we did, so there is a record for whoever looks after your IT next.
Pricing
Each CCTV repair job is priced before work starts. The price depends on what's involved - the size of the site, the equipment, and whether parts are needed - so the quickest way to a number is to tell us about the job on the booking form.
There is no contract and no monthly fee. You book the job you need and pay for that job.
CCTV repair: questions
Can you recover footage from a broken recorder?
Sometimes. If the hard drive is still readable we can often pull footage off it in another recorder or computer. A badly failed drive may need specialist data recovery.
Will you fix a system someone else installed?
Yes. We work on most common brands of cameras and recorders whoever installed them. Having the admin password helps, but we can often reset it if it has been lost.
Do you do CCTV repair on site?
Yes. We come to businesses and homes across Auckland and Hamilton and do the work where the equipment is.
How much does CCTV repair cost?
It depends on what's involved. Tell us about the job on the form and we'll confirm the price before any work starts.
