Home security camera installation, on site

You want cameras watching the driveway, doors and yard.

You want cameras watching the driveway, doors and yard.

A home camera system starts with what you want to see, and how clearly. We walk the property with you, looking at the driveway, front door, side gates and back yard, and work out whether you need faces, number plates or just movement. Cabled PoE cameras on a recorder are the reliable option; we choose turret or bullet styles with infrared or colour night vision depending on the lighting outside.

What the technician does

  1. Plan camera positions with you
  2. Mount cameras and run cables neatly
  3. Set up the recorder and the phone app

Think about what you want to see at night - lighting matters as much as the camera.

About home security camera installation

Cable routes are planned through the roof space or under the house so wires are hidden, with outdoor-rated junction boxes at each camera. We decide where the recorder lives, often in a cupboard with the router, and how many days of footage the hard drive should hold. Motion zones get set to ignore the road and the neighbour's tree, and alerts go to the household members who want them.

What usually causes it

  • A break-in or attempted theft nearby
  • Parcels going missing from the doorstep
  • Wanting to check on the property while travelling
  • Cars parked on a long driveway out of sight
  • Existing cheap cameras with poor night footage

Before we arrive

  • A list of the areas you want covered
  • Your Wi-Fi details, so the recorder can reach the internet
  • The phones that need the viewing app
  • Access to the roof space or ceiling where cables will run

What a visit looks like

When you book home security camera installation, you tell us what's going on and we reply with a time that suits you and a price. Nothing starts until you're happy with both.

On the day, the technician arrives, looks at the problem in person and confirms the plan with you before starting. If something turns out different from what was expected - a part is needed, or the cause is somewhere else - we stop and agree the change with you first.

When the work is done we test it with you, show you what was changed, and leave the area tidy. For business jobs we note what we did, so there is a record for whoever looks after your IT next.

Pricing

Each home security camera installation job is priced before work starts. The price depends on what's involved - the size of the site, the equipment, and whether parts are needed - so the quickest way to a number is to tell us about the job on the booking form.

There is no contract and no monthly fee. You book the job you need and pay for that job.

Home security camera installation: questions

Will cameras record my neighbour's property?

We aim cameras at your own property and can mask out areas such as a neighbour's windows or yard. NZ privacy guidance expects home cameras to avoid capturing more of other people's space than needed.

Do cameras need power outlets outside?

Not with PoE cameras, which get power down the network cable from the recorder. That means no outdoor power outlets are needed, and no electrical work.

Do you do home security camera installation on site?

Yes. We come to businesses and homes across Auckland and Hamilton and do the work where the equipment is.

How much does home security camera installation cost?

It depends on what's involved. Tell us about the job on the form and we'll confirm the price before any work starts.
