Computer & Laptop Repair
Laptop screen replacement, on site
A cracked, black or flickering laptop screen.
A cracked, black or flickering laptop screen.
Before ordering anything we connect the laptop to an external monitor. If the picture is fine there, the fault is in the panel or its cable; if not, it points to graphics or the board. Screens differ by resolution, connector, refresh rate and whether they're touch, so we read the part number off the existing panel rather than guessing from the model name, which avoids fitting a screen that almost fits.
What the technician does
- Check the screen, cable and graphics to find the real fault
- Quote the right replacement screen for your model
- Fit and test it, then clean up
A flickering screen is sometimes the cable, not the panel - we check before ordering parts.
About laptop screen replacement
Some laptops use a panel held by clips under a bezel, while many thin models bond the glass to the lid, making the whole display assembly the replacement part. That shapes the repair-or-replace decision on an older machine, and we give you the options before ordering. Once fitted, we check for dead pixels, backlight bleed and hinge tension, and make sure the webcam and wireless antennas in the lid still work.
What usually causes it
- Laptop closed on a pen or earbuds
- Dropped while open
- Flickering or lines caused by a worn display cable
- Black screen while the laptop is still running
Before we arrive
- The computer and its charger
- Your Windows or Mac login password
- A note of any error messages you have seen
- A backup of anything important, if the computer still works
What a visit looks like
When you book laptop screen replacement, you tell us what's going on and we reply with a time that suits you and a price. Nothing starts until you're happy with both.
On the day, the technician arrives, looks at the problem in person and confirms the plan with you before starting. If something turns out different from what was expected - a part is needed, or the cause is somewhere else - we stop and agree the change with you first.
When the work is done we test it with you, show you what was changed, and leave the area tidy. For business jobs we note what we did, so there is a record for whoever looks after your IT next.
Pricing
Each laptop screen replacement job is priced before work starts. The price depends on what's involved - the size of the site, the equipment, and whether parts are needed - so the quickest way to a number is to tell us about the job on the booking form.
There is no contract and no monthly fee. You book the job you need and pay for that job.
Laptop screen replacement: questions
Is it worth replacing the screen on an older laptop?
Sometimes. If the rest of the laptop is healthy and has an SSD, a new screen can give it more useful life. If the battery and drive are tired too, we'll say so and compare it against a replacement.
Can I use the laptop with an external monitor until the part arrives?
Usually, yes. If the laptop still runs, plug it into a monitor or TV via HDMI or USB-C. That's also a good moment to make sure your files are backed up before the repair.
Do you do laptop screen replacement on site?
Yes. We come to businesses and homes across Auckland and Hamilton and do the work where the equipment is.
How much does laptop screen replacement cost?
It depends on what's involved. Tell us about the job on the form and we'll confirm the price before any work starts.
