Computer & Laptop Repair

Slow computer fix, on site

Everything takes ages to open and the fan never stops.

Everything takes ages to open and the fan never stops.

Slowness has a cause, and we measure it rather than guess. Task Manager and Resource Monitor show whether the drive is stuck at full use, memory is running out or one process is eating the processor. We check temperatures for thermal throttling, look for drive warnings, and see whether the machine is stuck on a battery-saver power plan, which on some laptops cuts performance sharply without anyone noticing.

What the technician does

  1. Find what's slowing it - drive, memory, software or heat
  2. Clean up and fix the cause
  3. Recommend an upgrade only where it pays off

An old spinning hard drive is the most common reason a computer is slow.

About slow computer fix

The fix depends on what turns up. Software causes - bloated start-up, a stuck update, an old security suite - can be dealt with during the visit. Hardware limits are a different conversation: an older computer with a spinning drive and limited memory can be lifted with an SSD and more RAM, but a machine too old for Windows 11 may not be worth the spend. We lay out both before you decide.

What usually causes it

  • Old spinning hard drive
  • Too little memory for modern browsers
  • Too many programs launching at start-up
  • Dust causing the processor to throttle
  • Adware running in the background

What a visit looks like

When you book slow computer fix, you tell us what's going on and we reply with a time that suits you and a price. Nothing starts until you're happy with both.

On the day, the technician arrives, looks at the problem in person and confirms the plan with you before starting. If something turns out different from what was expected - a part is needed, or the cause is somewhere else - we stop and agree the change with you first.

When the work is done we test it with you, show you what was changed, and leave the area tidy. For business jobs we note what we did, so there is a record for whoever looks after your IT next.

Slow computer fix: questions

Will paying for faster internet fix a slow computer?

Only if the slowness is just web pages loading. If programs are slow to open or the computer takes ages to start, the problem is the machine itself, and a faster plan won't change that.

Is it worth upgrading a computer that can't run Windows 11?

Usually not for long-term use, because Windows 10 no longer gets standard security updates. We'll say plainly when a computer is better replaced, and help move your files across when it is.

Do you do slow computer fix on site?

Yes. We come to businesses and homes across Auckland and Hamilton and do the work where the equipment is.

How much does slow computer fix cost?

It depends on what's involved. Tell us about the job on the form and we'll confirm the price before any work starts.
