After-hours Onsite IT
After-hours internet changeover, on site
We're switching internet providers and need the changeover done without losing a day of trading.
We're switching internet providers and need the changeover done without losing a day of trading.
An internet change looks simple until you find everything that depends on the old connection: a fixed IP address used by a supplier portal, a VPN to another site, cameras viewed from outside and phones registered to a hosted system. We list those dependencies before the night and check with the new provider that the connection details, including any fixed address, are ready. Router logins are confirmed in advance.
What the technician does
- Confirm the new connection is live and record its settings
- Swap the router and update the firewall after hours
- Test email, cloud apps, phones and card terminals
Do not cancel the old connection until the new one has proved itself in normal use.
About after-hours internet changeover
In the changeover window we connect the new service, update the router or firewall settings, and work through the list. Staff browsing, email, the phone system, card terminals, remote access and any whitelisted IP addresses are all tested. If the new connection is not yet working properly, the old one is put back so trading is not affected. New connection details are written down for your records.
What usually causes it
- A better or cheaper connection has become available
- The building now has fibre
- The current provider has had repeated outages
- The business is adding a second connection for failover
Before we arrive
- Building access, keys and alarm codes arranged with management
- Admin logins for the systems being changed
- A contact who can answer questions on the night
- A list of systems that must be working first thing
What a visit looks like
When you book after-hours internet changeover, you tell us what's going on and we reply with a time that suits you and a price. Nothing starts until you're happy with both.
On the day, the technician arrives, looks at the problem in person and confirms the plan with you before starting. If something turns out different from what was expected - a part is needed, or the cause is somewhere else - we stop and agree the change with you first.
When the work is done we test it with you, show you what was changed, and leave the area tidy. For business jobs we note what we did, so there is a record for whoever looks after your IT next.
Pricing
Each after-hours internet changeover job is priced before work starts. The price depends on what's involved - the size of the site, the equipment, and whether parts are needed - so the quickest way to a number is to tell us about the job on the booking form.
There is no contract and no monthly fee. You book the job you need and pay for that job.
After-hours internet changeover: questions
Will our phones keep working?
If your phones run over the internet, they usually reconnect on their own after the change. We test calls in and out before leaving and adjust router settings if calls are one-way.
What about services that only allow our old IP address?
We list them before the changeover so you can ask those suppliers to add the new address. Anything we find on the night is noted for follow-up.
Do you do after-hours internet changeover on site?
Yes. We come to businesses and homes across Auckland and Hamilton and do the work where the equipment is.
How much does after-hours internet changeover cost?
It depends on what's involved. Tell us about the job on the form and we'll confirm the price before any work starts.
