IT for gyms and fitness studios
Onsite IT for gyms and fitness studios: member access and front desk systems, Wi-Fi, cameras, music and screens for class areas.

Gyms and fitness studios combine a front desk, a busy floor and often several studios, all relying on technology. Member check-in, payments, door access, music, screens for classes and cameras have to work together, usually in rooms full of people, sweat and loud equipment. A weak Wi-Fi signal or a failed access reader turns away paying members. Many facilities add systems one at a time, leaving a patchwork of cabling and devices. We come to your site, sort the network that all of it depends on and set up the audio, video and security equipment so staff can run it easily.

IT problems gyms and fitness studios run into
- Check-in terminals and door access readers rely on a weak network that drops out at peak times.
- Music and screens in studios and on the gym floor are controlled by separate, confusing systems.
- Wi-Fi struggles when many members connect at once in changing areas and cafe spaces.
- Cameras cover entries and the floor, but footage is hard to retrieve and storage fills up.
- Member and payment details are held on a front desk computer with no backup.

What a good setup looks like
A dependable fitness facility network is planned around where people actually are. Access points cover the gym floor, studios, reception and any cafe or lounge, with a guest network that stays separate from check-in, payment and door systems. A business firewall and a managed switch sit behind it, with cabling to the front desk, readers and cameras labelled clearly. If a studio is added or moved, the network can take it without being rebuilt.
Audio and video get the same planning. Studios need speakers, microphones for instructors and screens that suit the room, with controls simple enough to use mid-class. The main floor can run music zones and display screens for timetables or promotions, updated from one place. We choose equipment that copes with noise and moisture, mount it securely and run neat cabling so wires are not exposed to members.
Security and resilience complete the picture. Cameras cover entries, reception, equipment areas and car parks, recording to a secure unit with limited access. Member records and payment-related systems sit behind a firewall, with individual staff logins and regular backups. A second internet connection can keep check-in and payments working if the main link fails. We note camera locations, device lists and cabling in a handover document, and general care under the Privacy Act 2020 applies to member information and footage.

Run through these yourself. Anything you can't tick is a good place to start:
- Do check-in and door readers keep working at peak times?
- Can an instructor start music and a screen without calling anyone?
- Is guest Wi-Fi separate from the front desk and payment systems?
- Can you find a specific time on camera footage quickly?
- Are member records backed up away from the front desk computer?
- Does the facility keep trading if the main internet connection drops?
What a visit looks like
When you book a business job, you tell us what's going on and we reply with a time that suits you and a price. Nothing starts until you're happy with both.
On the day, the technician arrives, looks at the problem in person and confirms the plan with you before starting. If something turns out different from what was expected - a part is needed, or the cause is somewhere else - we stop and agree the change with you first.
When the work is done we test it with you, show you what was changed, and leave the area tidy. For business jobs we note what we did, so there is a record for whoever looks after your IT next.
Pricing
Each business job is priced before work starts. The price depends on what's involved - the size of the site, the equipment, and whether parts are needed - so the quickest way to a number is to tell us about the job on the booking form.
There is no contract and no monthly fee. You book the job you need and pay for that job.
IT for gyms and fitness studios: questions
Can you install sound systems for group fitness studios?
Yes. We select speakers and microphones for the room size, install and tune them and add controls instructors can use easily. We also look at how sound travels to neighbouring rooms.
Will you work around our opening hours?
Yes. Installations that are noisy or disruptive are better done before opening or after closing, and we plan the visit with you. Many tasks, such as cabling and mounting, can be done in quiet areas while the gym stays open.
Can you connect our door access system to the network?
We can provide the network connection, power-over-Ethernet where suitable and a stable setup for the access controller. The access system itself is configured by its supplier, and we work with them where needed.
Our footage gets overwritten too quickly. Can that be fixed?
Often yes. We can add storage, adjust camera quality and recording settings and set up motion-based recording. We explain how long footage will be kept for your setup and how to export it.
